Bug#545825: the same issue on squeeze

I encountered the same problem on fresh install. The reason turned out
to be different versions of gnome-packages within gnome bundle itself.
For instance gnome-desktop-environment version was 2.26 while
gnome-session 2.28 etc. So I added sid repos to upgrade all Gnome
related packages to v 2.28 and that fixed problem. I meet this kind of
problem secondly so far that various gnome-packages are of different
versions in synaptic. Last time gnome-screensaver wouldn't start because
gnome-session was of different version from it. 
 Why would maintainers upgrade some packages of gnome to newer version
while leaving others on the old ones in testing ?! That should always
cause troubles.
