Bug#577809: gnome-power-manager: Birghtness applet no longer works

Same problem here on a Toshiba Satellite A100-153 and on a HP Compaq 615
(both running up-to-date squeeze). The isse might be related to g-p-m no
longer being built with with support for HAL. See this Archlinux forum
