Not quite so.
Systems that have been badly damaged by this bug can be easily detected
and, in that case,  xdg-user-dirs can be made to continue to damage them.
Instructions can be written for the user to put the system right so that
xdg-user-dirs can do the right thing.

I'm getting mad, or is it not me.
I understood that Ubuntu has just sent me "upstream to Debian".
And yourself don't tell me where that is.

I thought that Open Software wanted to be helped but I must conclude
they do not.
