I had a look at gnome-session's source and saw that it tries to use
consolekit first with gdm's socket interface as a fallback, whereas
ROX-Session doesn't use consolekit at all and tries gdm's socket
interface first. So this does look like a consolekit problem, perhaps
this bug should be reassigned.

I'm not surprised this didn't trigger the bug, because that would have
removed what appears to be the cause of it and made gnome-session fall
back on the more reliable gdm interface.
