No, I’m not going to spend several hours examining all menu entries to
see which ones are broken. I don’t care at all of the obsolete Debian
menu system, its shitty 32x32 icons, its total absence of i18n support,
and its plethora of entries that don’t make any sense to users.

If you manage to find a solution that actually works without rendering
GDM unusable, fine. I’m not going to spend any time myself hacking on
the Debian menu system.
