Bug#566515: Printing most pdf files from evince hangs laserjet printer

Trying to print (most but not all) pdf files on a HP LaserJet 4050 using Evince hangs the
printer. This doesn't happen using other pdf viewers.

Printing from Evince used to be just fine until recently so I assume the bug
was introduced in a recent update.

I found a bug report on ubuntu karmic which seems a perfect match to my problem:
