I past I had some problem with gnome-screensaver on LDAP enabled box,
but i know what are the reasons that i can't unlock them (only root
can access proper password to authentificate, so it works in su/ssh/login,
but not in screensaver).

Here is something totally different.

Default Debian Gnome installation.

No LDAP, or any fancy PAM modules.

After some upgrade few months ago, unlocking gnome-screensaver is impossible,
it says something like this in auth.log

Standard passwd, shadow, (added to fuse in groups), standard nsswitch.conf.

nscd installed.

Maybe username is to long? Or nscd is a problem?
