I think the bug can be closed.
Marcelo, can you check if the problem is caused by the kernel?

after the upgrade of the kernel from linux-image-3.1.0-1-amd64 from 3.1.1-1
to 3.1.5-1 the problem seems to be solved.

to be sure I have downgraded the kernel again to check.
with linux-image-3.0.0-1-amd64 3.0.0-3 I have no problem
with linux-image-3.1.0-1-amd64 3.1.1-1 I have problem
with linux-image-3.1.0-1-amd64 3.1.1-1 I have no problem.

same history on another notebook with i386 kernel.

I am on an updated wheezy notebook.
