In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:

  * Merge from Debian experimental (LP: #699897), no previous changes
  * Fix FTBFS with ld --no-add-needed; Thanks to Alessandro Pignotti for the 
    patch
    - add debian/patches/fix_FTBFS_no_add_needed.patch

We thought you might be interested in doing the same.
