My systems (two family laptops, with squeeze/testing) are LXDE, with
gdm.  It is not possible to shut them down from gdm.  I think it is
grave, because unless you know some way to log in as root (only me in
my family), there is no possibility to do a clean shutdown of a system
like that.  Lenny gdm worked perfectly.

Please take a look to this bug.
