The above work around is no longer needed after upgrade to 6.0.1, but it is still not quite working correctly.  The screen will not dim when you unplug A/C unless you have used a Gnome application.  For example, if you are using just iceweasel and have not used any other gnome applications, the screen will not dim, but if you are using Epiphany, then it will.
