Package: gnome
Version: 1:3.0+3
Severity: wishlist

Executive summary:

Please change dependency for tomboy etc. to:

  gnote | tomboy (>= 1.6) | zim

Longer story:

gnome dependency has:

  tomboy (>= 1.6) | gnote

Since first one is the default choice, this install tomboy as default.

After f-spot is gone, tomboy is the only package depending on MONO so
this introduces many *-cil package dependency to gnome-core just for
this tomboy package.

So without religious argument, just by technical judgement of size,
speed and lightness, why not change this dependency as:

  gnote | tomboy (>= 1.6)

(I know both are active project.)

As I checked Ubuntu forum*, people seem to use zim as GTK based
alternative with practically for the same purpose with VCS support etc.
Since gnome tends to list alternatives:

  abiword (>= 2.8) | libreoffice-gnome
  gnumeric (>= 1.10) | libreoffice-gnome
  liferea | evolution-rss | blam

Why not make this even better with:

  gnote | tomboy (>= 1.6) | zim

So install of zim allow us to remove gnote without needing to remove
gnome package and manually selecting all other package in it.

Regards,

Osamu
