Package: gnome-control-center
Version: 1:3.0.2-3
Severity: normal

i'm using gnome on this powerpc machine. it appears to be in
"fallback mode". the monitor is an Acer AL715 (connected via VGA to
the analog pins on the DVI port), which supports 1280x1024, but
apparently isn't properly detected:

As a result, when i open the gnome system settings, and choose the
display tab, i get this blank view (see Screenshot-2.jpg, attached),
even when i click "detect monitors". However, once i see this blank
view, if i click "apply", then i get a second dialog box which says:

----------------------------
The selected configuration for displays could not be applied

required virtual size does not fit available size: requested=(1,1), minimum=(320,200), maximum=(1360, 1360)
[Close]
----------------------------

Even worse, this broken setting appears to have been stored in gconf
someplace, so that when i log back into this account, the same dialog
box appears each time (see Screenshot-1.png, attached).

While i acknowledge that there is some underlying problem with the
monitor autodetection and X11 going on here, the gnome display
settings shouldn't ever try to set a bogus setting like this or store
it in gconf for future settings.
