Bug#667758: evince cannot open dvips->Distiller generated pdf docs

Hi, 

I have a nice document that shows up correctly in:
* xpdf
* acroread
but leaves only striped on white background in evince.
I attach a screenshot with xpdf and evince.

evince gives no info whatsoever.

As said, evince does not give any error at all.
But if I run it through qpdf --linearize and want to see the generated
pdf then there are loads of errors both in xpdf and evince:

Error (3631): Illegal character <b4> in hex string
(many of them)
Error: Weird page contents
Error (7677): Illegal character '>'
Error: XObject 'Im1' is unknown


I am not sure if this is known.
