Reproduce:
    1. Start the browser.
    2. Type "ftp://ftp.cs.rochester.edu/" in the the address line and 
press "Enter".
    3. Read the followign message:

The website at 
ftp://ftp.cs.rochester.edu/pub/packages/scalable_synch/locks_and_barriers/Bfly1.tar.Z 
seems to be unavailable. The precise error was:

URL cannot be shown

It could be temporarily switched off or moved to a new address. Don't 
forget to check that your internet connection is working correctly.

I expect that the ftp contents is displayed in the browser. (As of 
today, the link is not dead, check it, e.g., in iceweasel.)
