I just ran into an issue with evince and I believe this is the same
issue as the one reported by Tobias.

I get:

$ evince 09.pdf
! SyncTeX Error : No file?
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::logic_error'
  what():  basic_string::_M_construct null not valid

xpdf opens the file without problems.

Unfortuntely it's a bank statement so I cannot put it on the web
(although I'm happy to send it to a developer privately). Maybe
Tobias thesis is available online or the gdb information is enough.

Note that I tried to upgrade to 3.31.90-1 in experimental and that
has the same issue.
