Unfortunately I am unable to make any new tests because at present the
Debian packages (for Debian unstable) seam completely broken.
Whatever GNUstep application I try to start the result is

/usr/lib/GNUstep/System/Applications/Someapp.app/Someapp: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/GNUstep/System/Library/Bundles/libgnustep-back.bundle/./libgnustep-back: undefined symbol: FTC_Manager_Lookup_Size
