That's mostly the NSThread/NSLock redesign.  Too bad, one of the
trickiest places...

It would be great if you succeed.

I remember some discussions (on libc-ports?  debian-release?  Not sure.)
with peculiar details about the switch from Linuxthreads to NPTL, but I
can't recall the details.  Maybe someone from debian-hppa can shed some
light?  (Digging into the archives now...)  It seems to me that it's
possible this to be a glibc bug; having in mind I cannot reproduce on a
Lenny machine.
