Now that's why it somehow looked familiar! I even debugged it the same way
like back then. :-)

Strange that I didn't find that bug when googling for that error
message.

The fix from back then doesn't help again respectively anymore?

Maybe you forgot the Cc to debian-release at l.d.o in your mail...
