http://gpe.linuxtogo.org/download/source/gpesyncd-2.0.tar.bz2 might be
possible to package, just not right now.

Do you know if gpesyncd actually works? I haven't packaged it so far
because I didn't think it was usable.

No. It is a case of asking for a package which does not currently exist.

1. Not much will happen until Lenny is released - I'm too busy with
Lenny and Emdebian and adding NEW packages during a release freeze isn't
that useful, except possibly via experimental.
2. File an RFP bug against the wnpp package in Debian, i.e. make a
request for this package and include all the information you can find in
the ITP bugs already closed for GPE, e.g.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=404030
3. Alternatively, file an ITP (intent to package) if you intend to do
the Debian packaging and one of us will check your package with a view
to possibly sponsoring your upload into Sid once Lenny is released.
