I am writing to ask that you sponsor me in the ADAPT Fun Run, a fundraiser
to support disability rights activism.

DONATE!

It is easy to donate. Just use this link:

WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

During the past year, we worked diligently with Senate Minority Leader
Schumer's office to improve and reintroduce the Disability Integration Act
(S.910). This bi-partisan, bicameral legislation takes up the call of
Senator Harkin's 2013 HELP Committee Report, “Separate but Unequal” to
strengthen and clarify the ADA's integration mandate for people with
disabilities. The bill establishes that people who require long term
services and supports have the opportunity to receive those supports in the
community as a matter of civil rights.

PLEASE DONATE!

So please make a donation to support ADAPT's work by using this link:

The money we raise from the Fun Run doesn't go to salaries, overhead or
anything like that. It is used to directly subsidize the costs associated
with getting our voice heard. That means it is used for:

- travel costs for getting ADAPT activists to the actions and back home;

- hotel rooms where ADAPT activists can stay during the actions; and

- accessibility accommodations like sign language interpreters at the
actions.

Our local ADAPT activists personally contribute about $400 every year to
pay part of their way to the national ADAPT actions and the state actions
we have in Albany. This is a LOT of money for people who live on SSI or
SSDI and have extremely limited incomes. But they are willing to make such
sacrifices because they know how important the work is!

I'm not asking that you to donate $400… I'm just asking that you make any
donation you can afford to support the people with disabilities who put
their bodies on the line, year in and year out at ADAPT actions. They are
true heroes in my book and deserve our support.

Donate what you can. Just use this link:

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY DONATED THIS YEAR…

THANK YOU!

I know folks have limited funds to donate so I appreciate EVERY donation to
ADAPT - no matter who it is donated through. Please know that the donation
you've given will make a difference and is greatly appreciated by the
entire ADAPT community!

CAN'T AFFORD TO DONATE…

NO WORRIES - YOU CAN STILL HELP!

We know that a lot of folks in the disability community can't afford to
make donations. So if you can't donate, then please forward this email to
five folks you know and ask them to support ADAPT. This is a way you can
help make a difference without blowing your budget!

No matter how you do it…

THANK YOU for supporting ADAPT's activism and disability rights!

Together we will FREE OUR PEOPLE!
