[Pkg-gridengine-devel] License clarification

Hello Grid Engine Developers,

we are currently at the last stage of preparing gridengine packages for
the Debian GNU/Linux distribution. We have to say we are very happy to
finally have an enterprise-ready Grid schedular included in Debian.

One thing we are required to do before putting a new package into the Debian
archive is a license audit. During that, we found[1] that quite a few files
(most of them data files, like html files, manpages or xpm graphics) do not
have a clear copyright; we are aware that you important other files from third
party projects.

Can we assume that everything that is not explicitely licensed by
somebody else is actually copyrighted by Sun under the SISSL? That
would help us a lot.

If this turns out to be the case, I would suggest you add a notice about
this to a top-level README file or similar to make this clear.

Thanks,

Michael for the Debian Grid Engine maintainers
