Btw, upstream tells me there are networking patches pending commit (both from
Vincent Guffens and Marco Gerards).  Perhaps you could talk to them and see if
that works for you?

Note that GRUB 2 is (hopefuly) going to be included in etch too, and it doesn't
suffer from any release-related freeze restrictions.
