Does D-I even allow choosing GPT instead of MSDOS partitions on 
i386/amd64? I haven't seen any prompts regarding that so far, and 
unfortunately I can't even test that anymore because the server is 
already on site. Anyway, this wasn't a problem for me because...

...I installed the base installation onto a single disk, recompiled a 
new kernel with the driver for my raid-controller (which got into 
mainline only in 2.6.19 *sigh*), partitioned the 
raidcontroller-blockdevice using parted, moved the installation onto a 
FS on the raidcontroller and then faced the bootloader-problem (both 
lilo and grub saying GPwhat?)

No offense taken ;). Well, the GPT patch for legacy worked fine for me 
and I don't know how active the GRUB2 development is. If it takes 
another year or two before it's "production-stable" I'd rather opt for 
having a GPT-patched GRUB Legacy to have something to safely boot 
GPT-based machines in the meanwhile.

No need for apologies, most (if not all) of us "do debian" (or open 
source..) in our spare time.
