On two different computers (an iBook and a home-assembled desktop), when
I try  to start a  Debian system on an  unclean ReiserFS (after  a power
cut, for instance), I get:
Error 16: inconsistent filesystem structure

When I remove the "savedefault"  instruction, Debian starts normally. On
some other computers,  I could not reproduce this problem,  so it may be
hardware-related. Anyway, for a non-geek,  I think this really makes the
system unusable...
