Bug#474343: same exit 139 error as andrei

I'm getting the same error when running update-grub as asm at fifthhorseman.net:

0 jamie at liberace:$ sudo update-grub
Searching for GRUB installation directory ... found: /boot/grub
139 jamie at liberace:$

I noticed it after pulling in an update for both the kernel (linux-image
2.6.24-6) and grub (0.97-37). I'm a bit daunted by applying the grub diff.
