Bug#558422: grub-pc: upgrade hangs

Steve Grecni gid at gifpaste.net
Sat Nov 28 18:25:21 UTC 2009

Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.97+20091125-1
Severity: important

When upgrading grub, the setup stage hangs until I hit control-c.

Setting up grub-pc (1.97+20091125-1) ...

^Cdpkg: error processing grub-pc (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script killed by signal (Interrupt)

The hang seems to be in this line in grub-pc.postinst:

db_subst grub-pc/install_devices CHOICES `grub-mkdevicemap -m - | sed -e "/^(fd[0-9]\+)/d;s,.*\t,,g" | tr '\n' ',' | sed -e 's/,$//g;s/,/, /g'`
