I'd appreciate it if you could try 1.98+20100802-1 or newer (the current
version is 1.98+20100804-1, but has no further changes over
1.98+20100802-1 relevant to this problem) from unstable.  Relative to
1.98+20100710-1, this fixes a number of problems on systems with
multiple RAID arrays, which seems as though it might very well be the
cause of your bug.
