What is prefix set to before you do this?  (Type 'set' without
arguments.)

Is there some way that I could reproduce this, e.g. by installing from
some CD image and upgrading?  I'm happy to spend some time on this
inside kvm or whatever, but will need a bit of guidance as I've never
used kFreeBSD.
