Bug#550702: grub-pc: Grub hangs after having ran Windows XP

Hi,

following your request too

Running from debian sid -repos, HP/Compaq nw8440 laptop with updated harddrive 500G instead of standard 80G. BIOS (F.16) set
to bitshift instead LBA to make this work.
XP on sda1 (NTFS) and some XP data on sda4 (FAT)
/boot on sda3 (ext)
and / on sda5 (ext)

grub-install /dev/sda, with no etra options
