At least on one of my systems this problem persists.

# update-grub
# echo $?
139
# /usr/sbin/grub-probe --target=device /
Segmentation fault
# strace -o /tmp/bla /usr/sbin/grub-probe --target=device /
Segmentation fault

/tmp/bla contains (among others):

open("/dev/sdd1", O_RDONLY|O_SYNC)      = 8
[...]

Is there any workaround?
