[Pkg-gtkpod-devel] Bug#486382: libgpod3: should not recommend libgpod-common

Package: libgpod
Version: 0.6.0-5
Severity: important

It seems to me that the dependency on libgpod-common does not satisfy the
policy requirement for Recommends:
This declares a strong, but not absolute, dependency.

The Recommends field should list packages that would be found together
with this one in all but unusual installations.

The library gets pulled in by for example the very popular applications
amarok, rhythmbox and lastfm, and I would expect a great many of them do
not have an iPod (I know I don't), thus making libgpod-common useless for
them.

Therefore the dependency fails the "in all but unusual installations"
requirement. Please consider either dropping the dependency, or lowering
it to Suggests so libgpod-common does not get pulled in needlessly by
default when people install any of the reverse dependencies of libgpod3.

TIA
