I don't understand why you are bringing this here... it sounds like 
something you need to take up with whatever group decides what goes 
into the default installation.

Furthermore, I think it is ridiculous to try to turn the default Debian 
installation into a stuff-that-integrates-with-Gnome-only desktop.
