Because you are more likely using scim-hangul.

The table method is usually some alternative method with less
intelligence.  As I see, I forgot to upload it.  I just fixed my
archive at people.debian.org .

Let's install and see.

No.  This is default on/off for SCIM.  If you use shift-space under SCIM
while using uim-anthy, it keeps SCIM on while changinf input mode.

Japanese: kinput2 --> anthy ,...

  kinput2 was on/off by shift-space
  anthy under uim with xim-uim was on/off by shift-space

Chinese: xcin ?
  I heard that was control-space.
