[I sent this mail to list yesterday, it was rejected and returned today,
most likely due to alioth downtime issues. I am resending it, and
another mail about the transition notes later.]

Hi everyone,

As many of you already know, I'm working on uploading scim 1.2 into sid
and finish both the C++ ABI transition and the SCIM ABI transition. Now
there is some change to this plan.

I didn't plan to upload 1.4 directly altough it's released as stable
because I was worrying about the compatibility with other SCIM IM
engines. Also my 1.2 packaging work was almost done when 1.4 was
released. However it took a while for me to get a sponsor (since Osamu
is busy).

Yesterday I met Akira TAGOH on IRC and he said he is willing to sponsor
me, but would like to see 1.4 in sid instead of 1.2. And since the main
upstream developer, James Su, has promised me that all IM engines works
well with scim 1.4, I've decided to skip 1.2 and upload 1.4.1 into sid
directly.

So I'll prepare 1.4.1-1 package in the following days (hopefully in one
or two days). I've not looked at the 1.4 packaging work by AWASHIRO
Ikuya yet, but I'll definitely take that as a reference when I start
working.

I'll post notes for IM engine package maintainers about this transition
after scim 1.4.1-1 is uploaded.

Thanks,
Ming
