You are using immodule for GTK aplication instead of xim.  I know it is
new and may support somewhat beter candidates display but why not use
GTK_IM_MODULE=xim as default.

This way there is less likely to hit problem as far as I and Ming
experienced with SCIM.

It build OK in pbuilder.

Can you give me your reference?  Are you just doing this one time or
thinking to do this longer time?
