Actually ibus-hangul also needs to be changed in that way with
internal Latin input mode. But the Korean standard keyboard is just
QWERTY plus two additional keys so setting "us" doesn't matter.

Most Korean users just use the same standard keyboard. But it is
common that Korean users misconfigure their XKB settings. So forcing
one suitable layout (for supporting the two additional keys) is a
reasonable default. (Actually this should be "kr" instead of "us".)
Well yes, common exceptions are Japanese laptop owners. But ibus has
"Use system keyboard layout" option. So there are still ways to
customize their keyboard layouts, aren't?

Why don't you discuss this issue with the upstream? Silently importing
patches from other distros is not a good packaging practice IMHO.
