im-config sets many environment:
XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus
GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus
QT_IM_MODULE=ibus
QT4_IM_MODULE=ibus
...
etc. in your home directory hook: ~/.xinputrc
Please read im-config's manpage and README.Debian.gz.
