Process for new packages?

Hi All,

Hope all is going well.

I'd like to package up a few libraries that are dependencies for Groovy
that aren't yet in Debian.

Can I just go ahead and add any package to be under the control of
pkg-java-maintainers (after an ITP) or do I need to request support for
it first from the mailing list, etc?

Whats the process for adding new pkg-java-maintainer packages?

BTW - according to http://pkg-java.alioth.debian.org/developers.html I
should ask about joining the party... so, may I :)

BTWv2 - the "CVS repository" link on the above page returns an error:
"Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in
/usr/share/gforge/www/scm/index.php on line 21" - something must be
playing up there.
