Hello,
I tried to execute make-jpkg on sun jdk 1.5.0 and got the following
error:

sh: line 1: gcc: command not found
dpkg-architecture: warning: Couldn't determine gcc system type, falling
back to default (native compilation)


I suppose gcc should be added to the dependencies.
