Your help is greatly appreciated, and doesn't require at all much
technical skill.

What would be very useful in order to help having this (indeed very
useful) feature request implemented, is:
- determining what part (which files) of the re package are also in the
sdk package? Are they really identical?
- For each purpose, determining what files are needed for that
(compiler, demo's, etc etc etc), what files are needed for that, etc.
What duplicate trees do there exist? Is there with help from md5sums a
good possibility to prune duplicate entries?

'Bonus': What would be a good way to implement this robuustly? Anything
is possible, but it'd really be nice if it'd work out of the box on new
revisions, it's tolerant to minor changes, and it'll easily and early
detect any problems. Also, code size should be as small as possible, for
easy of maintainance purposes.
