./libtool: line 1210: gcj-3.4: command not found
make[2]: *** [source/javax/xml/datatype/DatatypeConfigurationException.lo] Error 1

It seems to wrongfully detect gcj-3.4 which isn't
installed. This seems to be caused by this line in
debian/rules:
export GCJ=gcj-3.4

Is it supposed to be build using 3.3 or 3.4?

It also seems that it's only used in libtool, and not when
building the rest.

It also seems to be missing a build dependency on gjdoc.

Kurt
