Bug#298314: /etc/init.d/tomcat4 start fails; log says JAVA_HOME is not defined correctly

 That may very well be the case.  However, that means that
my Skolelinux-upgraded-to-Sid system is broken.  Either by me,
or by some chain of events, possibly going back to Skolelinux.
I would like to know.

This may be a corner case where the error handling simply does
not cut it.  A situation where the simplest solution may be a 
reinstall has room for improvement.

 Thank you.  I would like some more hints on troubleshooting
the Java environment.
