Herman,
~ My x86 sarge box has kaffe and tomcat on it, and the link to jdb is
not broken. I can start tomcat under kaffe with no problem once I
indicate it in /etc/default/tomcat4. However, I notice that the symlink
for jdb on my powerpc sid machine is broken like yours. The kaffe
package version info follows; please see if it matches yours and let me
know.

barryh@hideo:~$ file /usr/lib/kaffe/bin/jdb
/usr/lib/kaffe/bin/jdb: broken symbolic link to `../.system/bin/jdb'

barryh@hideo:~$ dpkg --status kaffe
Package: kaffe
Status: install ok installed

Description: A JVM to run Java bytecode
~ A virtual machine designed to execute Java bytecode. It performs
~ "just-in-time" code conversion from the abstract code to the host
machine's
~ native code. This will ultimately allow execution of Java code at the
same
~ speed as standard compiled code but while maintaining the advantages and
~ flexibility of code independence.
