Why libapache2-mod-jk2 and no libapache2-mod-jk package?

Hi!

http://www.artfiles.org/apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-connectors/

tells me:

Since November 2004 - JK2 is officially unsupported!

JK2 has been put in maintainer mode and no further development will take
place.

JK will be fully supported for all relevant web servers.

My questions are thus:

- Why is libapache2-mod-jk2 in Debian stable (Sarge)?

- Why is libapache-mod-jk only available for Apache 1.3 even though it's the
module that's currently supported by the Apache developers and just as
well compiles cleanly for Apache2? (I just did this on my Debian Sarge
  box; I dowloaded jakarta-tomcat-connectors-1.2.15-src.tar.gz from
  http://tomcat.apache.org/download-connectors.cgi
I installed the apache2-threaded-dev package so that apxs2 is
available and followed the instructions in BUILD.txt)
There should be a libapache2-mod-jk package instead of libapache2-mod-jk2.

I think this issue should be resolved since it is confusing. I have
installed libapache2-mod-jk2 since it integrates nice with Apache2, but that
doesn't really help me if this version is no longer officially supported by
the Apache developers.

Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

Kind regards,

	Holger
