Hi,

your quetion is perhaps a bit out-of-scope for this list, but:
use java-package to create your own debian package based on Sun's 
package (*not* the RPM one), I think it's still somewhere on their homepage.
I think as well that java-package is part of the 'multiverse' of Ubuntu.

One side note: Ubuntu is perhaps not the best platform to develop for 
Java, certain libraries are not part of any multiverse/universe (e.g. 
libbatik-java).
