Bug#396170: tomcat5.5 depends on ecj-bootstrap

Why does tomcat5.5 depend on ecj-bootstrap? I want to use
Sun JVM with tomcat5.5, and this dependency installs GCJ/GIJ
which I don't need/want to be installed on this system.

According to bug 384062 this dependency was introduced
because Tomcat could not find a JSP compiler. Why not just
include jasper-compiler-jdt.jar into the package?
