This is caused by a bug in libgcj [1] which has been fixed in the upcoming 4.2
release. Since java-gcj-compat-dev doesn't depend on gij-4.2 yet, we have to
wait for an update (or have the fix backported).

A workaround for Tomcat is to create a java-gcj-compat hierarchy
in /usr/lib/jvm for 4.2 manually.

As to backporting the fix to libgcj7-0, that would be nice, but since most
people run Tomcat with Sun JDK and we can expect (?) gcj-4.2 soon anyway, it
may not be worth the brain cycles.
