Hello,

This was originally posted as part of bug #413906 but I've been told a
bug against the tomcat6 source package is more appropriate.

The current tomcat6 package just provides libservlet2.5, and a full
Tomcat 6.0 server stack would be nice to have for all Java users in Debian.

I've been working on a full server stack packaging for Tomcat 6 to land
in Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, based on the great work done in Debian on
Tomcat 5.5 and the preliminary work of David Pashley posted on bug #413906.

The spec covering the work is accessible at:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Tomcat6StackSpec

The packaging is currently being submitted for inclusion in Ubuntu
universe [1]. The corresponding debdiff is attached : it needs some
adaptation because Tomcat 6.0 won't build with the default-jdk in sid
(intrepid uses OpenJDK-6).

Nothing is set in stone yet, so if there is anything I can change in the
packaging to make it more likely for Debian to adopt it in the future,
please let me know.

Thanks !
