Sorry for the delay and thanks for the ping.

This issue is not so trivial. Different users have different needs. A
possible solution for this would be eclipse-cdt depending on
eclipse-platform *AND* recommending eclipse. This will install whole
eclipse for normal users but allows more experienced users to not
install eclipse if not needed.

To make this happen we first need to fix that long-standing eclipse-cdt
FTBFS bug...
